Rob has been again chosen by Silverstone and the GT Academy to be their Head of Driving for the 2011 edition of the Nissan/Playstation GT Academy. This year the GT Academy featured North American and European editions with the successful Playstation gamers all completing their final assessment at Silverstone. The European finalists started their week with a visit to Le Mans to see former winner Lucas Ordoñez and the Signatech Nissan team take 2nd place in the LMP2 class. This time Eddie Irvine was the Head Judge supported by Rob alongside RJN Motorsport team boss Bob Neville. Johnny Herbert on this occassion acted as mentor and coach to the UK entrants. The resulting GT Academy programmes will be widely broadcast during 2012. The European and North American winners of GT Academy will compete in International GT4 races and eventually take part in the 2012 Dubai 24hours.
Rob is an experienced technical analyst motorsport commentator providing unique driver insight. His television work includes expert analysis and commentary for Channel 4’s “GT on Four” & “F3 on Four”, in addition to work for Motors TV in their coverage of the “GT Cup Series” and the “Lotus On Track Championship”
He has also been employed as a commentator for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone bringing insight to the complexities not only of Formula 1 but also the support package including GP2 and the Porsche Supercup. Rob’s live broadcasting has included the Motors TV coverage of the Silverstone Classic meeting alongside commentary legends Toby Moody and John Hindhaugh.
